Odogaron Mask, Monster Hunter World

For my Final Project, I made a mask from the game Monster Hunter World. I knew this would put me out of my comfort zone and would really challenge my problem solving skills. I sculpted in clay, covered the whole thing in several layers of silicone, and then fiberglassed a two part shell so the mold would hold its shape. Once the fiberglass was cleaned up and had wing nuts screwed in, I was ready to cast. I used fast cast resin with fillite (for added strength) to create the mask. Once it was cured, I removed it from the mold, cleaned up the edges and took out the eyes and mouth with a dremel. After this, I used milliput on the inside edge for added strength. I then got to work making the teeth out of milliput too. These were then sanded and glued in with epoxy. After being primed, I started to paint with various shades of red and brown. I decided bronze and gold metallic paints would make nice accenting highlights for the piece. Once all of the painting was done, a satin sealant was applied to keep the paint from chipping. Finally, I had some white fabric mesh that I painted black with ink so I could still see through it, and painted the iris blue with acrylic paint to make it opaque.
